Formula Student is a prestigious competition organized by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in more than 20 countries across four continents since 1981. It aims to develop the engineering, business management, and teamwork skills of university students.
In this competition, students compete in race cars they design and build from scratch, following rules established by IMECHE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) and SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). This competition is not just a race to see who can reach the finish line first, but also demonstrates their technical knowledge and strategic planning skills.
The competition consists of three static stages: engineering design, cost and production, and business plan; and five dynamic stages: acceleration, autocross, endurance, skidpad, and fuel economy.
Formula Student is attracting more and more students every year in our country, and students at many schools are forming new teams and entering this world.
Formula Student Turkey (FST) is not only organizing a national racing event; it is also launching a process that will facilitate information exchange between teams in their preparations for international races. It will also offer consulting opportunities through a higher board, provide training and certification services in various areas, and create opportunities for new support channels.
Although held for the first time in 2025, FST has attracted international attention. During the pre-registration phase, applications were received from countries such as Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India, and a Russian team has already registered.
